Book Seven explicitly includes digestion and circulation beneath putrefaction. The labels belong to an alchemical classification of operations, not solely ordinary digestion in an organism or modern circulation of blood. Their placement also shows how the text can maintain seven principal stages while acknowledging additional procedures, without treating every named operation as another independent rung of the principal ladder.
