The Gold-growth claim specifies earth facing east and uses the vocabulary of fertilization. Book 2 has already described rain as making earth fertile, so the later passage extends a cultivation model to metal. Oriens is a directional qualification in that claim, not an established modern condition for metal growth. The analogy and its precise orientation belong to the historical assertion rather than a verified metallurgical practice.
