English renderings
Venus; copper; sexual indulgence

Meaning

Lemma.

Venus has more than one role. In the planetary-metallic account it denotes the copper partner paired with Mars, explicitly aligned with cuprum in the next paragraph. In Chapter VII the inflected Veneri belongs instead to excessive sexual indulgence in a bodily weakening example. Those contexts should not be conflated: the latter is not a claim about ingesting or using copper.
