The visible body is called nature’s shadow, and the understanding can produce a shadow of that shadow. The garment analogy creates layers: clothes hide body, while body hides the generative nature within. Shadow therefore denotes an epistemic obstruction as well as a bodily covering. Removing an exterior appearance alone does not necessarily disclose the inward seed or its operation.
