Salamander

Meaning

Lemma.

Normalized lemma for the accusative Salamandram in Saturn’s explanation. The creature arises from the solar fruit’s putrefaction in special water, endures fire and has blood more precious than treasure. Neptune later associates salamander and phoenix with self-revivification rather than ordinary mortal conception. The figure presents the work’s claim of enduring transformative life; it is not an account of the biology of actual salamanders.
