- pontic water
Meaning
Phrase.
Normalized phrase for aquam nostram ponticam and aqua nostra pontica. The epilogue describes it as congealed in Sol and Luna and extracted through chalybs; it also supplies the source from which the less openly revealed armoniac salt is obtained. Pontic evokes the sea vocabulary of the work. The supplied edition rightly leaves its composition unidentified rather than turning the adjective into a modern chemical equivalence.
