Milk of earth

Meaning

Phrase.

Normalized phrase for the printed ablative lacte terrae. It is immediately glossed as earth’s fatness, born in the earth’s breasts and preserving or governing the second-generation infant with nature’s salt. The nourishment metaphor extends the work’s reproductive vocabulary. It does not establish literal animal milk, a food ingredient or a preparation suitable for human consumption.
