Masca

Meaning

Form.

Masca is preserved as printed in the 1607 witness, beside Thurbi and Amalgama. The source does not here explain its composition, and the apparatus declines to impose a modern identification. What can be securely explained is its role: Mercury invokes it as another preparation or assumed form in the catalogue of his obedience and suffering at the worker’s hands.
