make peace

Meaning

Phrase.

Peace between sulphur and its guards would allow united forces to produce immortal things. Saturn says only a very wise person in agreement with sulphur’s mother could accomplish it. The alchemist turns this into comic boasting about negotiation. The phrase bridges elemental reconciliation and a satire of verbal prowess; his confident claim is not a report that he has actually achieved the conjunction.
