- I shall feed everyone with hope
Meaning
Phrase.
The alchemist’s sentence openly describes his plan to keep supporters waiting. The verb of nourishment is transferred from material food to expectations, immediately after his fear that nobody would give him bread. He will continue trying operations privately and move elsewhere if he fails. The phrase therefore marks the transition to deliberate manipulation of others’ hopes rather than an innocent statement of optimism.
