Meaning

Form.

Sulphur’s garments are stained even though its heart remains pure. The contrast allows a uniform nature to appear altered by imprisonment and material conditions. Elsewhere sulphur is approached in poor clothing, and the prince removes a heavy cloak before entering the dream river. These clothing images concern concealment or impediment, but the source does not equate every garment with a single named substance.
