Meaning

Lemma.

A die used in a throw of chance. Brotteaux invokes Rabelais’ judge Bridoie and says he would trust the dice if he were president. The suggestion is a satirical comparison with a court whose verdict is guaranteed correct merely by satisfying its own passions, not an administrative description of how the Tribunal actually reaches verdicts.
