Meaning
Epanorthōsis is correction or setting right. It can repair an existing order rather than replace it entirely.
Use in the book
Iamblichus says that the gods continually correct fate, lessening, relieving, or removing evils. Such correction preserves destiny while keeping it from disorder. In the account of descent, correction can instead concern a soul’s own character, giving the term both cosmic and educative applications.

Wachsmuth, volume I, printed pp. 43, 380. The difficult clause about fate’s manifestation is left qualified; the text’s explicit claim of preservation is the basis of this explanation.
