Historical definition
Rubella is a spiritual essence that, through its dissolving power, extracts tincture from bodies.
Meaning
The effective relation is between the essence, a body and its tincture. The essence dissolves; the tincture is drawn out. Spiritual is part of the historical description of the extracting agent and does not remove the bodily operation from the sentence.
Use in the book
Quintessentia also joins spiritual matter with corporeal extraction. Tinctura, meanwhile, defines what tinges a body with its color. Reading these entries together helps separate the extracting agent from the quality or material extracted.

In this edition
The definition describes activity without specifying one modern solvent. The obscure headword is therefore explained through the operation actually stated.
