Historical definition

Perdomium is wine made from herbs.

Meaning

The gloss makes herbs the material from which the wine is made. It does not name a particular plant or provide the production process.

Use in the book

Vinum essatum is wine impregnated with the virtues of herbs or other things. The comparison is useful because the two definitions state different relations: wine made from herbs, and wine receiving their virtues. Those formulations should remain distinguishable.

Cardonium is a medicinal wine made from herbs. It offers a further herbal-wine comparison while adding a medicinal qualification absent from the present sentence. Retaining that distinction prevents a name connection from supplying an unstated therapeutic purpose.
