Pars cum parte is a mass consisting of equal parts of gold and silver.

Meaning

Equal parts is the identifying ratio. The definition names two metals and describes their proportion within a mass; it does not specify a testing or separation procedure.

Use in the book

Quartatio also combines gold and silver, but supplies a different proportion and an assay. Reading the entries together demonstrates why shared ingredients do not establish the same preparation or purpose.
