Historical definition
Liquidum de resoluto is that which is liquid by its own nature.
Meaning
The decisive qualification is of its own nature. The entry does not merely designate something observed in liquid form at one moment; it assigns liquidity to what the thing is. That differs from a description centred on an operator’s dissolving a previously solid body.
Use in the book
Menstruum defines a liquid through its use in dissolution or digestion. Liquidum de resoluto instead defines a condition of the subject itself. A liquid can be discussed through either relation, but the two headings ask different questions.
