Historical definition
Ilech primum is the first principle.
Meaning
The definition gives a position or rank without naming a substance. It does not explain whether the first principle in a particular author is a material, an origin or an ordering concept. Those further distinctions must come from that author’s account.
Use in the book
Ilech crudum is a composition of the first matter of the three first principles. Iliaster lists Sulphur, Mercury and Salt and relates its account to four elements. Their more detailed explanations provide context, but they should not silently replace the short and singular gloss printed under Ilech primum.
