Historical definition
Dardo is successive generation by propagation.
Meaning
The definition concerns a sequence of generation rather than naming a single generated thing. “Successive” and “propagation” belong together: the process proceeds from one generation to another. No particular animal, plant or mineral is specified.
Use in the book
Divertalium gives a different formulation, generation made by elements. The distinction is useful when an author contrasts ways of coming into being. The dictionary does not state that these two labels describe mutually exclusive processes, so their relationship must be judged in the passage being read.
