spirit of procreation, vegetative spirit, power of things, good or bad seed, Spirit of procreation.

Meaning

The Delle report’s generative spirit is said to penetrate solid earth and rocks and to multiply according to the nature of the seed it receives. The qualification “good or bad seed” matters: the power multiplies according to the seed’s nature rather than automatically improving every seed. The passage links this vegetative power, under Bernard’s name, to all three natural kingdoms and to things within and outside the body. Its uneven shifts of tense and subject are retained in the edition, rather than repaired into a completely systematic formula.
