English renderings
mirror, image.

Meaning

A mirror in which the narrator says he has seen the image of creation and the course of Christian sacred history. Bild names that image, including resurrection and immortality as well as creation. These words explain how regenerated salt can be valued as an object of knowledge beyond its claimed material benefits. The analogy is the narrator’s interpretation of its being and works; it does not make the alchemical object literally identical with every event it is said to display.
