break open a seal, unopened, twentieth year, eldest son, erbrechen.

Meaning

Erbrechen refers to opening the sealed testament, not to the bodily sense of vomiting. Its opposite in this setting is unerbrochen, unopened. The father reserves the act for his eldest son once he has reached sound understanding and his twentieth year, and asks other recipients to forward it intact. This is a rule about access to the document and the maturity of its addressee, distinct from the separate instructions governing further transmission of the knowledge in passage 4.
