Meaning
Honest gain or increase, requested in the prayer for the talent entrusted by God. The positive adjective matters: the phrase is not the narrator’s condemnation of exploitative lending. He asks for divine wisdom so that the gift can bear worthy results within a calling, despite human weakness and short life. This local devotional and vocational use does not supply a general policy about interest or finance.
