hidden food of life, rarefied water, invisible spirit, Hidden food of life.

Meaning

The Hermetic judgement locates hidden food of life in the air and relates its appearances to dew at night and rarefied water by day. The nourishment metaphor characterises atmospheric life-sustaining power. Its invisible spirit, when congealed, is valued above the whole earth. This is a cosmological and alchemical claim about concentrated power; the passage does not identify a modern atmospheric gas or demonstrate a nutritional function for a collected material.
