Meaning

The father pairs verpuffe and detonire and marks the latter as the language of the chymists. In this unit the described endpoint is a calcined material, not a product identified as blasting powder. Historical vocabulary must therefore be distinguished from a modern technical claim of high-explosive detonation. This lexical distinction does not make the operation safe. The lexicon omits its reagents, proportions, working conditions and sequence, and keeps the separately omitted explosive passage at passage 20 outside reconstruction.

Diotimos edition clarification. This companion refers to an earlier version of the edition. The current book includes the restored Testament passages on the 1682 witness’s pages 76–77; the companion’s references to an omission notice describe that earlier version.
