- Cabalistic Mercury, root of the elements, first mover, life-breath of created things, solar corporeal Mercury, lightning.
Meaning
The J. J. F. discourse locates Cabalistic Mercury in fire while immediately stating that Mercury produced the fire. Containment is therefore not the same as causal priority. The name is linked to the root of elements, first mover, divine fire, and life-breath by which creatures are created and preserved. The dated judgement distinguishes a self-transforming form from another solar corporeal Mercury manifested as destructive lightning. These predicates make a simple substitution of ordinary metallic mercury inadequate to the local argument.
