Chronology

Witnesses and the Present Edition

Date: 1651 Witness or editorial event: London: The Summary of Physicks Recovered, an earlier English printing, published by W. Bentley and sold by W. Sheares and R. Tutchein. It is a transmission reference, not the wording governing this translation.

Date: 1653 Witness or editorial event: Geneva: Jean-Antoine and Samuel de Tournes issue the Latin Enchiridion used here. The ETH Zürich copy ends with canon 245 on printed page 179.

Date: 2026 Witness or editorial event: Diotimos Editions: fresh translation and readable Latin transcription of the selected 1653 witness, with separate modern study features.

The chronology identifies the documented witnesses relevant to this edition. It does not claim that 1653 was the work’s first publication.
