Latin

Aquae inferiores bifariam divisae distinctas regiones occupant, pars enim earum Terrae contigua ei tanquam basi propriae insidet, & cum eâ unicum globum constituit; altera pars sursum evolans per aëris vicini plagam vago motu peregrinatur, ibique larvatas corporum imagines, multiplicesque phantasmatum figuras sibi fingens pendula huc illuc errat.

English

The lower waters, divided into two, occupy distinct regions. One part, adjoining earth, rests upon it as its proper base and forms a single globe with it. The other flies upwards and travels with wandering motion through the neighbouring tract of air. There, fashioning for itself masked images of bodies and manifold phantom shapes, it hangs suspended and roams here and there.
