p. 75XVIII. To Plouton
(no fumigation named)
O you who dwell in the house beneath the earth, of mighty spirit,
in the Tartarean meadow, deep-shadowed and light-forsaken,
chthonic Zeus, sceptred, receive these sacred offerings readily,
Plouton, you who hold the keys of the whole earth,
giving wealth to the race of mortals with the fruits of the years;
you who by the third lot were allotted the earth, queen of all,
seat of the immortals, mighty support of mortals;
you who fixed your throne beneath the gloom-shaped region,
far-reaching, untiring, breath-forsaken, trackless Hades,
and dark Acheron, who holds the roots of the earth;
