IX. To Selene

fumigation from aromatics

all-seeing, lover of the vigil, teeming with fair stars,

rejoicing in quiet and in the richly-fated good night,

shining one, of gracious face, horn-bearing, glory of night,

star-ruler, long-robed, running in spirals, all-wise maiden,

come, blessed one, kindly, fair-starred, with your own radiance

shining, saving these new suppliants of yours, maiden.
