XI. After the earthquake a fierce fire will follow, a fire of love, which will consume all earthly materials and lay the treasure bare. Yet you will still be unable to see it.
XII. After all this, as morning approaches, everything will become still and lovely. The morning star will soon rise and dawn will break. You will then become aware of the great treasure. Its foremost and greatest part is a most exalted tincture, with which the whole world—if it were possible, pleasing to God and the world worthy of it—could be tinged and changed into the highest gold.
XIII. Use this tincture yourselves, as the guide will teach you. It will make you healthy and young again, so that you will no longer feel any illness in any member.
XIV. Beside this tincture you will find every precious stone imaginable in the world. Take none of them for yourselves, but be entirely content with what the guide gives you. Always thank him heartily, and take great care not to flaunt it before the world or use it in any way contrary to God. Use it well and possess it as though you possessed nothing. Be temperate, quiet and reserved, and guard yourselves as far as possible against all sins; otherwise your brother, the conductor, will turn away and you will lose this happiness again. Take this as a sound admonition: whoever misuses the tincture, failing to live as an example before the world and purely and uprightly before God, loses it and has little hope of awakening it again.
XV. If you now prepare yourselves for this path and feel a strong impulse, set out without delay. The one whom we have requested and appointed to accompany you will join you on the way. You must vow to him to enter the fraternity and remain steadfastly with it; to disclose this to no unworthy person without your guide’s permission; to follow him faithfully in every way; and diligently to do everything he teaches and tells you. Turn aside neither to the right nor the left, but conform yourselves to him entirely. You should and must attempt this, for your prayer and ardent longing towards God have been heard, and God has deemed you, together with others like you, worthy to share this treasure. Be joyful and confident, and exceedingly careful. Rely not on yourselves but on your conductor. Behave blamelessly towards him, for he is a worthy person. Do nothing apart from him, his knowledge or his will. If you desire it, he will assist you and never abandon you. He will faithfully tell you where our assembly can be found and sufficiently instruct you in our statutes and ordinances, which you must most diligently observe. He will also guide you until everything is accomplished and revealed, the lion takes possession of the kingdom, and the world’s course reaches its goal and end. O fortunate, worthy and beloved brothers, united with us in one mind: thank God day and night for his grace. Do not grow complacent, but honour your guide and instructor. Follow him in everything he will teach you and which we cannot write to you. Consider what you have attained, lest you grieve your guide, cause him to turn away and bring a bad report of you.
