To conclude, I wish finally to add this further counsel: when the Almighty has imparted his grace to you by revealing this godly and holy art, use it rightly and keep silence concerning it. For this reason place and fasten a firm lock before your mouth, lest talkativeness—or rather pride—bring you into danger and harm before both God and human beings, indeed into temporal and eternal ruin. You must therefore take good heed.
Who wishes to grow rich through the art
Should be devout, plain, quiet, and silent.
Whoever will not do this
Makes himself a poor man.
All this, dear reader, I have wished not to leave unmentioned at my farewell, both as a reminder and a warning. I hope that you have sufficiently understood and taken note of me in everything, unless God has withheld your eyes and ears. For I could not have set it forth more faithfully and clearly, or described it more openly, as far as may be done with a good conscience. If you cannot understand or learn it from this, I fear you will scarcely grasp it through other instruction.
