The soul of the world, with its action and power, is represented in all things, within which it is wholly conformable. It binds and joins higher and lower things together. For as many ideas as there are in the heavens, so many seminal causes and reasons it possesses; and through this spirit it fashions as many species in matter. Therefore, if any species sometimes degenerates, the soul within it may be reformed and restored to its first state through this spirit of the world, which is very close to it and obedient to every kind of movement. Yet we should not think that the ideal intellect itself is drawn down, but rather the soul endowed with its powers and attracted by material forms. This should not seem strange, for the soul itself becomes food and bait, being capable of transmutation into all the things by which it is drawn and solicited, and always willingly dwelling and remaining within them. Zoroaster calls these congruities and fitnesses of forms with the reasons of the world soul attractions.
