Governing French Source
Nuysement, Clovis Hesteau de. Traittez de l’harmonie et constitution generalle du vray sel, secret des Philosophes, & de l’Esprit universelle du Monde, suivant le troisiesme Principe du Cosmopolite. Paris: Jérémie Périer and Abdias Buisard, 1621.
Governing witness for the new translation. The actual title page reads 1621; the privilege is dated 6 November 1620. The body contains Book I, nine chapters; Book II, four chapters, despite its table’s omission of IV; and additional Book III prose, with concluding sonnets. The text reaches printed p. 332 and is followed by errata. The supplied scan has not established a complete original plate suite.

Wellcome Collection. Records for Traittez dv vray sel, secret des philosophes, et de l’esprit general dv monde. Paris: Périer and Buisard, 1621. Physical record hngyrnnr; electronic-reproduction record j7xjuhmu.
Institutional descriptions identify the French witness, record its engraved plate and warn of pagination errors. The records give differing corrected page totals, so the actual sequence and printed labels govern the edition’s locators. The electronic reproduction’s modern date is not an original publication date.

Latin Transmission
Nuysement, Clovis Hesteau de. Tractatus de vero sale secreto philosophorum, & de universali mundi spiritu. Translated by Ludovicus Combachius. Cassellis: typis Jacobi Gentschii, impensis Sebaldi Koehlers, 1651.
The actual title qualifies its association of the Cosmopolite with Sendivogius. Book III begins on p. 190 with the palace analogy, independently confirmed by the index. Its ending includes further prose, French verse, an authorial concluding sonnet and Combach’s Latin imitation. The checked ending does not establish reproduction of the French nine-sonnet suite. This witness helps distinguish differences already present in transmission from changes that cannot safely be assigned to a particular translator.

Printed English Transmission
Nuysement, Clovis Hesteau de. Sal, Lumen, & Spiritus Mundi Philosophici: or, The Dawning of the Day. Translated by Robert Turner through Combach’s Latin. London: J. C. for Martha Harrison, 1657.
Two-book English body ending on p. 220 at the point corresponding to the French Book II explicit. The dedication and other English preliminaries belong to this printing’s reception setting. The e-rara catalogue misreads the printer’s initials as F. C.; the title image shows J. C. Wellcome describes the Ekins title-page issue as apparently a reissue and explicitly corrects the older Jacques de Nuisement attribution.

Diplomatic transcription from the British Library copy’s EEBO image set 52617. The current XML header applies CC0 to encoded text, expressly excluding page images. Marked illegibles and foreign-language omissions require facsimile checking. Two duplicate-page markers at 100–101 do not represent missing substantive pages. It is a comparison tool, not the source wording of the new French-based translation.

English Manuscript Transmission
Nuysement, Clovis Hesteau, sieur de. Treatises of the true salt, the philosophers secrett, and of the generall spiritt of the world. English manuscript, England, second half of the seventeenth century. University of Pennsylvania Libraries, Ms. Codex 501.
Catalogued as an English translation from the first French edition. The three books occupy manuscript pp. 1–141; Book III begins at p. 126 with the palace analogy. The catalogue’s broad date range, 1650–1699, does not establish priority over Turner. The translator is unnamed. Sampled ending images do not establish translation of the complete French sonnet suite.
