Sal Lumen and Spiritus Mundi Philosophici: Relations within the Text

p. 245

Names of operations follow the local definitions. In particular, watery distillation means washing or filtration here, while alembic distillation is classified as sublimation. Useful volatility must also be distinguished from the volatile sulphur called corrupting. Finally, the author interprets Hermetic ascent through dissolution and return through congelation, rather than requiring travel to the vessel’s top. See the watery operations, the qualification of volatility and ascent and return.
