Sal Lumen and Spiritus Mundi Philosophici: Original Errata for the Treatises on Salt
1621 Original errata leaf, recto · scans FR341Page 3, line 15: in the word cette, print a c in place of an r. Page 9, line 17: at the end of the line put est source (‘is the source’) in place of & source (‘and source’). Page 10, line 21: remove the [s] from the word seuls, since the reading should be seul (‘alone’). On the following line of the same page, remove the two e’s from dite animale: the reading should be dit animal (‘the said animal’). Page 11, line 4: after plantes (‘plants’), put a colon in place of the comma. Page 19, line 13: make the letter r in iner clear, since it looks like a t. Page 22, line 17: delete que and put Qu’une (‘that a’) in its place. On line 20 of the same page, delete est, which should not be there. The reading should simply be cet esprit donc (par les philosophes appellé Mercure): ‘this spirit, then (called Mercury by the philosophers)’. Page 26, line 20: in place of menees (‘led’), write meuës (‘moved’). Page 3, line 14: in place of supreme (‘supreme’), read sperme (‘seed’). Page 40, first line: in place of Phisique (‘physical’), read Chimique (‘chymical’). Page 50, line 14: in place of royees, read rosées (‘dews’). Page 56, line 7: in place of Mercuce, read Mercure (‘Mercury’). Page 91, line 4: the reading should be respondray (‘I shall answer’), rather than respouderay. Page 93, line 14: read ‘just as the body of the Earth did in the first limbus of the waters’. Page 99, last line: read appris les vertus (‘learnt the virtues’). Page 108, last line: read ne laissent à se cuire (‘do not cease to cook’). Page 112, line 10: read le pur de l’impur (‘the pure from the impure’).
