English

Finally, at the end of all earthly things, the last separation will take place in the third generation, on that great day when the Son of God will come in his majesty and glory. Before him will be carried neither swords, chains, diadems and sceptres, nor treasures and other royal ornaments such as princes, kings and emperors display in pomp, but his cross and crown of thorns, the nails driven through his hands and feet, the spear which pierced his side, the reed and sponge with which they gave him drink, and the rods with which he was struck and beaten. No troop of horsemen with loudly sounding drums will accompany him. Instead, angels will blow four trumpets towards the four quarters of the world. Their roaring sound will kill in a moment all who are still alive, and immediately raise them again together with the buried dead.

About This Reading Edition

The complete supplied Latin–English edition of the historical title, dedication and all nine books, with 363 separately labelled historical marginal notes, 117 modern annotations and the complete Diotimos study apparatus. The transmitted composite work is traditionally attributed to Paracelsus; individual authorship remains qualified.

Historical Text and Translation

The normalized Latin follows the complete 1605 Frankfurt Palthenian witness, volume six, printed pages 198–271, in SUB Göttingen PPN578052199, historical scans 182–255. Earlier textual tradition is German; the individual translator of the 1605 Latin text is not identified. The dedication’s 1537 date is transmitted text, not an established date for the composite work.
