Modern English
Chronology of This Witness
1650 — The dedication to Oxford is dated 1650 and signed E. P. This is the date printed within the dedication, not a substituted date for the whole edition.
1651 — The historical title page names H. Blunden and gives London and 1651. The address to the reader is also dated 1651. Wellcome catalogues this printing as the first edition, Wing V150 and ESTC R146.
1652 — Vaughan’s translation of The Fame and Confession of the Fraternity of R. C. appeared with his own prefatory material. This later publication provides a useful textual context for the Rosicrucian letter in Lumen; it is not appended here as part of the 1651 book.
2026 — This Diotimos reading edition modernises the complete historical English, newly translates the foreign-language passages, reproduces the original emblem and adds the supporting study material. The first-edition images remain the governing witness.
