YEAR 1810

Sunday, November 25.

(Marseille.)

December 13.

(Marseille.) Religions. One must embrace them veiled and adore God with eyes closed.

Power is a beauty that makes women love even old age.

December 23.

Peyrilhe’s saying: “Instinct is always directed toward simple substances, and caprice toward compound substances.” (Quoted by Dr. Robert.)

December 31.

All that tends to make very lively minds, but very ill-regulated souls.

T101.The parenthesized place is the complete body of this dated unit. No event or new title is supplied.

T185.The short place parenthesis is the complete physical main paragraph under Dimanche 25 novembre; it is not absorbed into date metadata or expanded.

T102.Religions remains plural and nominal. Veiled describes the religions as embraced; it does not describe a covering newly imposed on the reader. The closed eyes remain a separate physical image.

T186.The place parenthesis and nominal Les religions remain within the same paragraph. The feminine plural voilées agrees with religions; no explanatory subject or doctrine is added. Some letters of adorer are abraded but the surviving shapes support the qualified complete reading.

T103.The source’s causative formulation, women, and even old age remain explicit. No particular ruler, lover, or woman is identified.

T104.The two attributed speakers remain distinct: the saying is Peyrilhe’s and Robert quotes it. Directed toward renders porte sur as the object of instinct or caprice, without adding a particular appetite, treatment, or chemical theory. The quotation has not been independently located in Robert or Peyrilhe. Dr. renders the printed raised-r abbreviation Dʳ.

T188.The attribution, quotation and parenthetical citation occupy one physical paragraph. The r in Dʳ is smaller and raised. Peyrilhe and Robert remain unexpanded; no exact external work is identified.

T105.The demonstrative that has no newly supplied antecedent. Minds and souls remain distinct, as do their repeated very and the adverse turn. Ill-regulated preserves the moral ordering in mal réglées.
