The Concentrated Centre of Nature · Passage 26
English
The gentlemen doctors who make the familiar distinction between animals, plants, and minerals contradict themselves daily through visible deeds. For they administer countless mineral and metallic medicines to an animal—the sick human being—through which, when they are prepared without △ and corrosives, the patient recovers much better than through other remedies. Now recovery is nothing other than the correction of sharp-acid or degenerated spirits; and no disordered substance is corrected unless the correcting agent enters the thing to be corrected at its root with its finest essence and unites with it inseparably. It follows irrefutably that the essence of minerals and metals can unite with animals. They must therefore be of one substance in nature’s foundation, their difference being merely accidental.
