The Concentrated Centre of Nature · Passage 23
English
Although this salt is everywhere and in all things, as stated, according to the measure, number, and weight of each matter, it cannot be obtained easily everywhere, nor is it suitable for every purpose when taken from just any thing. The learned say that if gold is to be made, it must be done through ☉ or solar matter, and that the improvement of a thing can arise only from something like itself. They therefore consider animals, plants, and the powers of the air wholly unfit for the exaltation of metals, because they believe that each of the so-called three kingdoms differs from the others in the foundation of its nature.
