The Concentrated Centre of Nature · Passage 19
English
The fixed body is too coarse for the luminous moving power poured into it, the flowing spirit too unstable, and the volatile soul too subtle. But when their union brings forth a fourth—a true love-seed and centre of the powers, which is not properly water, because it is an earth-filled slime that can float on water; not earth, because it flows and wets; and not air, because it is entirely tangible and can lie still, yet is at once earth, air, and water, born from all three—then through the heat of movement there arise from it many kinds of creatures: animals, plants, and minerals. In the end all pass again from unity into threeness and become air, water, and earth. Thus nature proceeds to infinity.
