The Concentrated Centre of Nature · Passage 11
English
Among a hundred thousand seekers there is scarcely more than one finder. Whether you, reader, are to be that fortunate and blessed person is entirely uncertain, if you have any understanding at all. The most excellent and subtle people have failed, aiming their wisdom beside the target. Therefore employ your time better, for your salvation. Who knows whether your soul may not be taken from you today? Can you give a good account before your God? Has your soul kept good house in its dwelling, the body? Has it not sometimes set it on fire? Does it not still burn together with the body through the soul’s sharp and disordered movement, in the fire or light in which fear, trembling, and terror cause darkness and cold? If your soul’s ⊖ thereby becomes unsalt, corrosion, bitter and sour, how will its exhalations—its thoughts—and how will it itself taste in God’s holy, sweet mouth? Will he not spit the soul out?
