The Concentrated Centre of Nature · Passage 2
English
O alchemists and fruitless workers in the laboratory, if you knew what would bring you peace, you would put your thoughts and labour to better use. Abandon this unrest. Attend faithfully to your calling and thereby provide, as far as possible, for your wife and children. You have not been called to be priests of nature, nor have you received the talent necessary for this service. If you have food and clothing, be content with them, for you brought nothing into the world and will take nothing out of it. You came naked, and naked you must depart to the place where your reward awaits you.

Historical Text and Translation
The governing German witness is the complete 1682 collection in Badische Landesbibliothek Karlsruhe, shelfmark 87 B 76050, with an unnumbered title and printed pages 1–80. The historical title’s Arabic and Portuguese antecedents and its authorial persona are retained as claims, not authenticated originals. Johann Otto Helbig (Hellwig), Martin de Delle, J. J. F. and the anonymous testament retain their distinct historical roles.
