The Last Testament of a Father to His Beloved Son · Passage 7
German
Mein liebster Sohn!
English
My dearest son, I have written here an admonition on how you should live as a Christian towards God and your neighbour. So that you may properly understand everything written here, it is my earnest wish and fatherly request that you neither open nor read this until you have attained sound understanding and your twentieth year. No one but you yourself is to break its seal. If it should fall into anyone else’s hands, I respectfully request that person, whoever they may be, to deliver it unopened into the trusted hands of my eldest son himself, since it contains only a faithful admonition to my dear son.

The governing German witness is the complete 1682 collection in Badische Landesbibliothek Karlsruhe, shelfmark 87 B 76050, with an unnumbered title and printed pages 1–80.
