Preface by Helbig to the Reader · Passage 4

As for the rest, which is the principal purpose of this little book—namely the regenerated salt of nature, commonly and properly called the Philosophers’ Stone—I have grasped what I take to be his meaning, insofar as its beginning and intermediate stages can be considered. I will say nothing about the final result, since I have never brought it about myself, although a friend’s kindness has allowed me to experience its powerful action in various ways, and at the highest degree with one part of the regenerated salt upon 6,000 Reichsthalers of lead, producing the finest gold. For I have never sought riches through my work, but only true knowledge of the centre, or universal spirit of all things, which alone can satisfy a person eager for the wisdom of nature.
