English

O God our Father and Lord of all goodness, you who made all things through your word and fashioned humanity through your wisdom to rule over the creatures you have made: give us the wisdom that stands always before your throne, and do not cast us away from your presence. For we are your servants and the sons of your handmaids, weak human beings, short-lived, full of error and doubt, and too feeble without your help to increase, with honest gain in this calling, the talent you entrusted to us. Even if someone among the children of humanity were perfect, he would count for nothing without the wisdom that comes from you. Send it from your holy heaven and from the throne of your glory. Send it to be with us and work with us, that we may know what pleases you. Let it guide us with moderation in our works and lead us through its glory. Then our works will be acceptable to you, and we shall learn the truth in your wondrous creatures. Lord, our thoughts are uncertain and our judgement full of darkness and doubt. Send your Holy Spirit from on high and enlighten us, so that we may always find the right way and do what pleases you, to the honour of your holy name and the benefit of our neighbour, for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.
