The Concentrated Centre of Nature · Passage 6
English
God says: “You shall gain your sustenance from the field all your life, and in the sweat of your face you shall eat your bread until you return to the earth.” Paul zealously served God and served humanity with the gospel; nevertheless he also worked with his hands, making tent-cloths. Idleness is the beginning of every vice. Meddling in other affairs is a great sin; if you possessed the philosophers’ stone, you might become too full and fat, and then wanton. You might abandon the God who made you and slight the rock of your salvation. Therefore remain in the land and earn an honest living. Fear God and keep his commandment, whether you are poor or rich. All things will work for the good of the devout. Attend faithfully and with true zeal to your calling.
