The Concentrated Centre of Nature · Passage 4

You suppose, no doubt, that you have thoroughly excused this conduct when the prince or lord says: “My country and subjects must now pay heavy taxes; much land lies uncultivated, and sometimes we must turn a blind eye to evildoers simply to bring enough money into the treasury to maintain our estate. But if we learn the art of making ☉, everything shall be free, building shall begin afresh everywhere, and love and justice shall govern.” The preacher intends, once he can make gold, to conduct divine service without a salary. The lawyer will no longer set people against one another but help them obtain justice without a penalty; the physician will serve everyone for nothing. Artists, craftsmen, townspeople, and farmers intend, once they possess the treasure, to go quietly about, work no longer, and cease worrying about a worldly livelihood: they will serve God, as they say, and sit comfortably at rest.

About This Reading Edition

The complete supplied German–English edition of the 1682 collection: the main treatise attributed to Ali Puli, Helbig’s preface, distinct companion discourses, the short potable-gold preparation and the anonymous Father’s Last Testament, with four historical figures, 103 annotations and the full Diotimos study apparatus.

Historical Text and Translation

The governing German witness is the complete 1682 collection in Badische Landesbibliothek Karlsruhe, shelfmark 87 B 76050, with an unnumbered title and printed pages 1–80. The historical title’s Arabic and Portuguese antecedents and its authorial persona are retained as claims, not authenticated originals. Johann Otto Helbig (Hellwig), Martin de Delle, J. J. F. and the anonymous testament retain their distinct historical roles.
