Part II — Chapter 1: Nature
Candida Phoenix Philosophica: Part II — Chapter 1: Nature
63–64Saint John’s saying remains true and firm: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and God was the Word. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through it, and without it nothing was made that has been made,” and so forth. Accordingly, the substantial Logos, called God’s universal Word, and the uttered Logos, God’s particular Word pronounced in the work of creation, differ only in this: through the former both universal and particular natures were created primarily; through the latter, particular natures alone were created secondarily.
